Twitter Following 300x236 Increasing Traffic To Your Blog With TwitterSimply having a blog site to promote your business is not enough to attract and create a successful following. There is a fair amount of legwork that needs to be done to create a piece of internet gold that can help to establish and strengthen your work.
-

Utilizing various forms of social media is a great way to get your name out there, as well as attract more visitors, readers and fans to your blog and business. It is important to get involved with a number of different social media platforms in order to be successful in this venture, and one of the most important and currently popular is Twitter.
-

Give these following tips a try for increasing your Twitter following:
-

1)  Find The Popular Tweeters In Your Niche …. Using the search function of Twitter will help you quickly find those tweeters with a big following.  Start following them, get into the discussions and when they engage with you, it is Twitter gold!  Just one tweet from one of these popular tweeters will put you into the limelight and provide a huge opportunity for others to follow, as they will become aware of your profile.
-
2)  Tweet At The Right Time … If your business or industry has an audience in a different time zone than you, be sure to tweet during their peak times.  You may want to use a Twitter platform to schedule tweets during the off times if you are not able to tweet at 3:00 in the morning!  Just be sure to check your @mentions first thing in the morning and again later in the evening.
-
3)  Organize With Twitter Lists … As you start increasing the number of followers and those that you follow, start setting up Twitter lists.  These lists is a great way to focus on specific groups of people, stay engaged with them and never miss important tweets.
-
4)  Twitter Marketing Tools …  There are all kinds of online tools that can help you streamline your time in looking for and searching for followers.  Check out my video for more tips on this …. Target Market with Twitter Tools
-
5)  Be A Leader / Be Resourceful … When you share good quality content, links, videos, articles and posts – it is more likely that you will get more people that will want to follow you.  Also, less likely for them to unfollow you!  So don’t tweet every minute with tweets that only have links to your promotions and affiliate products.  Instead, share helpful and useful information for your target market.
-

Twitter is yet another way to provide links back to your blog, as well as reach a number of individuals you may have otherwise not had access to. Establishing a good following on twitter with intriguing posts is a great way to direct more traffic to your blog and establish a larger group of followers.
-

Take a moment to explore the platform and look into what “tweets” are the most successful and what members have the highest amount of followers, especially within your niche market. Learn from others to produce the most beneficial usage of this specific social media platform.

Twitter is an amazing social platform when it comes to business. However, posting content other than blog posts is important. Share videos, articles and inspiring images. The key with any social platform when it comes to wanting people to learn more about what you and your business or products have to offer… is attracting them, connecting with them and build a visitor that soon turns into a paying customer.

Be a giver first. Share other tweeters content, videos and quotes. Visit their blogs and articles, leave comments and share. Soon you will then find them interacting and engaging and wanting to visit you. It is a give and give mindset that will have a more successful result with online business.

Appreciate you sharing your thoughts Prabhat, and always thankful for you visiting.

Great tips, they could be very useful. I’ve read a lot of various articles about Twitter’s role in the online marketing scene. Some say that Twitter is over for link-building, because of it hasn’t got strong links. Some say that Twitter will have a renessaince, because of the new algorithms of Google which filter the over-optimized content, and in a situation like that are the social media platforms the best places for online marketers. Anyway, I still use it, and it works. I think, from now on, thanks to your useful advices, it will work better:)

Do you have any suggestions for useful links and resources to check out for someone who understands the mechanics of tweeting, retweeting, and replying; and who has a basic grasp of strategy (be useful, share resources, don’t be too obnoxiously salesy); but who finds it really hard to put it all into practice?

Thank you Tanja I really appreciate you sharing your thoughts about liking the Twitter platform.

I think the biggest tip I could share about Twitter is understanding your audience is a major key. Share information they would be interested in, ask them questions and get them engaged. This will naturally create a connection, build confidence and your audience will then start checking out your site, and you can share links to specials you might have for products or services.

Being too ‘sales pitchy’ will turn people off, as you mention and I agree with that. Instead, consumers today want to know your purpose and how you can benefit them.

    Hey Lynn,

Twitter can be such an amazing and useful tool if used right. I have been growing my twitter following now to over 2000 (amateur to some and a lot to others) and i have used it in so many ways. Another great way to utilize your twitter following is figuring out what they are more responsive to. Sometimes I will do different affiliate programs, sometimes they sell other times i get nothing from that tweet, so trial and error is the best.

The golden rule with social media is always 80% content and 20% promotion. I try to keep it around 10% promotion but i learned i can push the limit to 20%.

    Great tips!

I hate to admit, but one way that I’ve managed to generate more traffic from Twitter involves two steps. First, twitter hashtags are extremely valuable. Even a twitter account with few followers can generate traffic with hashtags.

Second, using a few different Twitter accounts helps to. Basically, you set up three or four Twitter accounts. Then you grab a custom background from a site like Twitter backgrounds since it’s quick. Add a logo, then configure the extra accounts to autofollow with Social Oomph.

After that, you use Twitter feed and add these blogs to retweet your posts. You can then use add the extra accounts to Hootsuite. You can schedule a bunch of Tweets each day using a variety of different hashtags for all of your accounts in one easy step.

Madonna recently posted..Instant Cure for ProcrastinationMy Profile

    • Lynn Brown says:

Glad you can see the value with Twitter. As for building followers, it simply takes time. At least for me. Because I build my followers based of my industry, market niche and interests. So I do not follow just anybody.

I will also schedule in time to visit my lists and find other people to follow. I always send out a tweet to them thanking them for connecting (even thought they haven’t, yet) but tell them I look forward to sharing their tweets. 99% of the time I get a follow back. You can do this every day for about 5 minutes and follow 20 – 25 people. Soon you will start seeing your following grow.

But always remember to RT their tweets, ask them questions as engaging with others is key. Hope these are a couple of helpful tips you might try. Let me know Madonna and of course, let me know if you have more questions – I would be happy to help!

  26. I love to use hashtags at events. I retweet many people who are at the event; they type faster than me & create great comments about what’s happening, then get them out quickly. :-)

Then I actually do my best to find the “tweeters” while still at the event and connect with them personally. The last event I was at I met some fantastic new people who have similar interests as me.

I love the events where the hashtag is announced early, that way I can connect with people via Twitter and organize to meet them while we are there, it’s tons’o fun!

Hi Kirra, so glad you stopped by today. I would love to give you a couple of tips on turning those followers into readers and most important, into engagers!

What I learned is that most people need to be told what you want them to do. So for instance, on your tweets, you might ask a question along with saying ‘please visit, comment and share’. and add your link to the post, article or video you are sharing and want a response to.

Also, there are a lot of people that will interact with you and your blog when you share images or videos. There are a lot of people that are visual and therefore, will click to see the image and in most cases, leave a comment.

Those are a couple of tips that I hope will be helpful to you. You can also hover over my tab (above) for Social Networking, it will drop down where you can click on Twitter…. and there are all kinds of posts that I have shared that offer other tips as well.

Thanks again for stopping by and look forward to you visiting again soon. Let me know if you have any questions with Twitter or other social media techniques. Have a wonderful day.

  28. Interesting post, Lynn! I’ve definitely found Twitter to be such a key tool for syndicating my blog! Easier than FB to RT a quick post too. I’ve found that reaching a few thousand followers has made a big impact as well. Great tip about following people in your niche.

  29. I use two “tools”, depending upon the computer I employ. TweetDeck is a resource hog, but lets me read about 20 tweets in one fell swoop, so it saves me time.
I also get my tweets in a special Outlook list, which lets me seek out key words (that I choose at the moment) for special replies.
