How many times have you heard or been told ….. Your business needs to be on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, YouTube, Pinterest and many more?
-
In fact, you can literally go crazy with all the social network sites that currently are available. Have you tried Stumpleupon, Tumblr, Talent.me, Flickr, Connect.me … you see, I could go on and on.
-
But you cannot expect outstanding results for your business when you try to utilize all of these social network sites at the same time. That is because social sites are to be considered your best marketing tools and strategies. Test 2 or 3 at a time to acquire a feeling on how your visitors respond.
-
Consider trying these tips for maximizing the success of your business with the use of any prominent social site.
1. Put in your time and effort in utilizing specific social media sites. You need to maintain a reliable and quality network while your business works its way to the top and you determine which social platform works best.
2. Post relevant and informative content that will be helpful to your target audience. If you have observed that many people appreciate your webinars and blog posts, just continue with what you are doing. Keep offering quality content that appeal to individuals. You will know that your posts work remarkably when you see numerous shares, likes, clicks, and positive comments.
3. Try to discover more opportunities by posting relevant calls-to-action or CTAs. Make sure you include a balance of relevant content and CTAs that can generate a great number of leads.
4. Continue learning more about social sites, even when you have attained success in your business. Never become complacent with what you have achieved. It is important to keep in mind that there is always room for improvement and growth. Regularly analyze your data and test numerous strategies to increase positive results.
If you have used various social media networks, study the type of conversion rates that you have experienced. Then, determine any similarity of the data with your own results.

To your continued online business success!

There are believed to be number of ways we can drive targeted traffic to our sites from social medias, all we need is to encourage people and engage with them.
First of we need to write a good content and share it on social media sites, people will read that content and share it automatically if they find anything useful for them.
We need to research about what all the ways we can try and implement to get high conversion rate instead of getting few visits.
You’ve wonderful post written to know more about it, thanking you Lynn.

Hi Lynn,
Social media sites are indeed very helpful and effective for traffic generation and of course qualified sales lead generation. Social media campaign works well with us. We had seen an increase of traffic in our websites and sales leads constantly coming in. Well, of course results cannot happen overnight and running this campaign is little bit a tricky one.
Thanks for the post Lynn!

I really only concentrate on 3 – Facebook (which is slipping) LinkedIn which is for networking and learning and Google+ which I keep learning more and more about.
I was just looking at my stats this morning for my websites and it is interesting how the ones I have been pushing hard with on FB is falling fast as others seem to cotton on to mindset and getting out of stuck. I am learning more about FB and advertising on it and yet there seems so much more to learn.
Lynn, I socialize with people like you and that seems to be one of the biggest assets for promoting my buisness

I’m glad that you mention that Roberta. I agree, ‘socializing’ within our market niche is a tremendous way to bring more visibility to you, your business, products and services. But it is another way for others to see you daily engaging with others and then they will feel comfortable to want to connect and learn more about you.
So thank you for bringing that into the discussion today. It is a very good point. Have a wonderful day Roberta!
Lynn Brown recently posted..Best 4 Blogging Tips for Small Business Owners
Lynn: Today there are about a million different social networking sites. I have tried to become active on many different ones at the same time, but that turned out to be a bad plan. Now, I am focusing on Twitter & Facebook alone. Everything else I do not really care about. For the most part, I am not trying to care about social networking. I think that it is easy to get caught up in numbers, friends, followers and lose sight of what is important.
I want to only focus on my blog and my content. I would rather someone connect with me through my blog than through social networking. I do not spend that much time on networks because I do not see that much value in it anymore. For the most part, I believe social networks to be a waste of time. I used to tweet all my new posts, but I do not even do that anymore. I believe by always tweeting posts one loses personality. When I spend time on social networks I am not going to talk about my blog. I want to use my blog to help me connect with like minded people, but after I connect with them I want to personally connect, at least on a different level than them only retweeting my tweets.
Does that make much sense in your opinion?
Best wishes,
William Veasley
William Veasley recently posted..The Pursuit of Happiness
Yes William that makes perfect sense. I do know what you are experiencing and the fact that you know what works for your business is key. It is more important to work with those ‘tools’ that help your specific goals for your business, rather than running around on all the social sites and lose focus.
While I commend you for spending more time on your blog, if you still have a presence on Facebook and Twitter …. what I have suggested to my clients is that you take a ‘statement’ from your blog and share that on your social sites …. no links, no promotional verbiage, just out right helpful information which you can grab easily from your posts.
Give that a try to see if you pull in more followers, especially if you pick and use 3 or 4 hashtags that would specifically be seen by your audience or market.
I look forward to getting your feedback on how you do, so I look forward to you visiting again soon – or please feel free to contact me directly. Much success to you and have an awesome day!

Hey Lynn. Great article. You just validated my decision to scale back on some of the social media. It easily gets overwhelming trying to maintain and keep up with so many new social media sites. Thanks for sharing.
Barbara recently posted..Healthy Late Night Snacks
Hi Barbara! I completely understand that “overwhelming” feeling. At times, it seems like you’re exerting more effort tending to multiple sites than you are on the reason you joined all those sites…your business. I like the strategy of spending a bit of time investigating which sites are most frequented by your customers/target audience and focusing on the top 2 – 4.
Hey Lynn. Great tips. I just recently started scaling back, not only on the social media that I work with, but even in all the other different marketing strategies. You can easily get overwhelmed. It’s just too much. Thanks for validating my decision to do so. Keep up the good work. Thanks.

its really hard to keep up with all the social networking sites these days , i stick with google+ , twitter and facebook , i really dont have any idea how linked in works and how can i gain traffic from there, would love it if you can guide me or tell me which groups to join there.
secondly , do you think its worth the time ? getting traffic from social sites? it too time consuming.
saad naeem recently posted..MaxCDN Review -Best CDN for WordPress
Thank you Saad for your comments and getting into the discussion. You know I always say that your business isn’t just about getting traffic. Your business will gain huge results when you focus on building meaningful connections and relationships. This will produce new clients, customers and they in turn will bring you referrals.
Long are the days of getting massive amounts of traffic to your site and see ‘what sticks’. My success is solely built on business relationships that continue to last over the years. So repeat business is one of the huge benefits when taking the time to build those connections.
That brings me to LinkedIn Saad. YES, LinkedIn is where all the business professionals, companies, owners, entrepreneurs, etc can be found. LinkedIn groups is the best way to start building your visibility rather quickly on this platform. Just search for groups using your keywords that best reflect your business or the type of audience you know would benefit. The as I always say ….. ‘be a giver first’…. give, give and give again tips, ideas, suggestions, get involved in the discussions, share others articles and discussions, etc. I can tell you from experience, it works!
I could go on and on. Saad — not that I want to sound like a commercial, however, having a properly optimized LinkedIn profile will give you a huge head start. Please check out my video program (Quick Start tab above, then Perfect Profile). You will learn so much about LinkedIn in a short period of time, and if you implement and execute what I teach, you will start seeing immediate results.
If you have more questions Saad, feel free to contact me and I will be happy to help any way that I can.

and maybe you’ve answered me, by the way. I have to check this out!
In my case, I think I do better with facebook than twitter. At least when you spend time on facebook your friend numbers go up. With twitter I am totally stuck
So, any feedbacks would be great.
Than you for this great post, Lynn. Always appreciate your hard work.
Sylviane Nuccio recently posted..I Can’t Imagine Myself Rich, Help!
Thank you Sylviane for your kind words. I think there was another post I mentioned to you some tips about Twitter. The key is to focus on following those people that are of interest to you and your business. When you follow them, be sure to let them know and that you look forward to sharing their tweets and information. This generally will always result in them following you back.
Now the key to any social site, is to maintain and share information that is interesting, compelling and builds curiosity so they will keep following you and wanting to get more information from you. Keep your links to a minimum so you don’t come off as spammy or just wanting a ‘sale’.
The key to any social network site is to be you, provide benefits to your audience and be consistent…. show up every day like you would for a j.o.b.!
Send me an email Sylviane if you have specific questions I can answer for you, will be happy to help!

Hi Lynn,
I often feel just because a new social network gets launched they feel obligated to use it. The reality of the matter is that most spread themselves out too thinly and don’t devote enough time to make a real impact using social media websites. You’re right, focus is needed as well as dedication.
Facebook and Twitter are most beneficial to be using, anything other that that is optional
Simmeon recently posted..How To Create A Killer Squeeze Page In 10 Minutes
I agree Simmeon, it is almost like everyone has to ‘get on the new train’! Spreading yourself to thinly is exactly what cause small business owners and marketers to give up, because they have too many balls in the air and none of them are showing any results.
I really appreciate you sharing your insight on this Simmeon. Good to hear that you know what social sites are best and working for you. Glad you stopped by and hope you will visit again soon!

I stick with one- Twitter. On occasion, I can be enticed to use Pinterest (if there is a great visual to share, too). But, I hope my followers know what I do and why i do it- and can get consistent recommendations and information from me.

Really helpful tips, and it is actually what I had been searching for. I just want to get out of stuck, I feel so stressed because of my blog nowadays. I’ve just started my new blog, and I have heard so much about the importance of fresh content etc. But somehow I have lost my motivation, there are too many things to do with a blog. I unfortunately haven’t done anything like this before, so your useful tips could be very helpful for me. Thanks for sharing them!

I took a minute to peek at your site. I don’t speak or read German but the images are wonderful! You can break your blog into smaller segments and focus on just a few things that relate to the products or services you are showcasing.
This was something I learned from another colleague a few years ago. Then it was easier for me to build my site and share information because I was more focused. And of course, work on it every day, you will get better with knowing what information to share to your audience.
Thank you Peter for sharing your thoughts and comments. Glad you stopped by and please come back and visit again soon.

Hi Lynn, great point about overuse of multiple networks. I go back and forth between some but always stick with Twitter, FB, Linked In and Pinterest. The rest only if time allows, like Stumble Upon, Digg, and Google+. I think it’s best if you master one at time and then move on to another. It all takes time. Hootsuite is a great way to manage them too.
