If you haven’t already built yourself a Facebook fan page, it’s time to jump on board the Web 2.0 train already!  Social media is more than just a trend – it’s an Internet marketing powerhouse that’s rapidly changing the way we look at online success.  To become a powerful Internet marketer, you need to look beyond the sales to focus on your relationships with your customers – and that’s exactly where Facebook fan pages come in.

So what are some other reasons why Facebook fan pages are like having another website?  Take a look:
-

  1. Increases Your Exposure.   There’s no denying that Facebook puts your business in the face of millions.  Thanks to pinpoint advertising and powerful keyword usage, you can connect with a highly targeted clientele base.
    -

  1. Connects You More.   You’ve heard that successful online marketing is all about the customer relationship, right? (and if you haven’t, it’s time to start reading my blog articles!-lol)   Facebook is one of the best vehicles for connecting with your customers, and getting to know what they expect from your products and/or services.

  1. Allows For Targeted Marketing.   Want to send messages out to your clients?  Want to let your fan base know about a new promotion?  Not a problem – Facebook allows you to do all of that with free messaging.  With Facebook lists it is easy to assemble your fans into specific groups that is specific to their wants, needs or market.

Whether you already have powerful website or you’re just getting started with your website strategy, a Facebook fan page can give your online business the base it needs to succeed!

  1. A good reminder to get my Personal Transition Guidance Fan Page up!

  2. I’ve got one but could do more, I am sure, to make better use of it. Love how your post includes motivation ~ not just a how to but a why bother. Sometimes it is hard to know the why behind certain social media strategies. Thanks for shedding some light on the fan page.

That is true with all these sites popping up everywhere (like Pinterest! and others). So I agree with you Tambre, if they don’t have a purpose for your business then it probably isn’t something to spend time on. So I am glad you took away that concept and maybe it helps others to take the pressure off when it comes to social media.

    Hi Lynn,

I have found that a Facebook page helps me separate my personal profile from my biz and also allows me to connect with those I would not have necessarily have met on my personal profile. My challenge now is to move one page of fans to a new page and that has been hard.

You have great tips here on this post. Thanks for sharing them.

    • Lynn Brown says:

Yes I like that ability to separate business and personal on Facebook too Cindy. As for moving over fans from one page to another, I have an idea to share, I hope you don’t mind.

You might want to try some of your other platforms where they are probably on (like Twitter and Linkedin) and just mention that you have another great fan page that you would like them to check out. Be sure to have that new fan page go to a welcome tab that offers a free report that they will receive for liking your new fan page.

Thank you for stopping in Cindy and sharing your comments. Please be sure to come back and share you new page here too!

Ken it is so good to hear from you. Thank you so much for your warm support and glad you stopped by today. Appreciate your kindness and look forward to you stopping by again real soon.

  7. Thanks for another interesting post Lynn. Unlike some of your readers we have actually built some great B2B relationships via our fan page. But this only happens when I responded to comments on our fan page as an individual rather than as a company. People buy people I guess.
About 50% of our B2B relationships on our fan page actually came via my Linkedin profile that shows our fan page link so I agree with the comments about the power of combining the 2 social networks.

Engaging with your audience is key, and you have proven that Amnuai. So glad to hear you are getting good response with your fan page. Really appreciate you stopping in and sharing your thoughts. Always a pleasure and look forward to you visiting again soon. Wishing you continued success!

  8. Second try- let’s see if your censor works after 5 PM (EST)…
I have not found this to be true- but that is probably more related to the fact that we don’t offer B2C services (with the exception of the best analytical and executed tax preparation and planning services). And, I don’t think FB is made for B2B. But, our clients, who do perform B2C services, have had fairly good success.
Just know your audience. and, if your audience is B2C, follow Lynn’s advice…

  9. Another practical experience. It also pays to ensure your LinkedIn knows about your pages. I know many businesses that do most of their business by interacting daily on their Facebook Pages – not totally seeing the evidence personally but that may because I am just touching a small group

That is a good suggestion Roberta. Linkedin is a great way to bridge the two platforms and really have a huge benefit. Thanks for visiting and sharing your thoughts.

  10. One would only hope this is true. Perhaps because my business services don’t fit the Facebook mold- (which I suspect is true)- it has not really helped me. But, my clients, who are involved with B2C products (we only offer consumers the best tax preparation services; the rest of our offerings are geared directly to busineses) have managed to gain success with Facebook.

That is a good example that you share Roy to prove that Facebook isn’t necessarily for everyone. When you know your business and your market, that is what will determine how or if to use a social platform. Really appreciate you stopping by and contributing to the conversation!!

  11. Hajra says:

Well I don’t run a business blog but I have loads of changes in the way people interact through Facebook pages. Asking for suggestions, dropping in to say hello, debating issues, getting suggestion on what they should be doing next. There are many ways one can extract the maximum out of Facebook Pages and you just have to try and learn what best suits you!

    • Lynn Brown says:

Thank you so much Hajra for your awesome contribution and advice. You hit the nail on the head when you said ‘just have to try and learn what best suits you’… that was a hard lesson I had to learn when I started out on social media a couple of years ago. There isn’t one perfect plan, and these social sites are tools to be used, implemented as it pertains to our specific business and goals.

Appreciate you stopping in today and adding your wonderful insight!
