One of the most up-to-the-minute ways to connect today in the world of business is through the social platform, LinkedIn.
-
But, I feel that there are far too many small business owners, marketers and entrepreneurs that under rate this social platform. LinkedIn has proven to be a great way of seeing and being seen across the web. And….If you want to grow in knowledge and check out the competition, LinkedIn is the way to go.
--
As you strive to be known in the business world and work for the respect of your colleagues, you simply cannot ignore all that LinkedIn can do for you and your business.
-
It is as simple as setting up an account with LinkedIn and then work to build your profile. You can then get to know others that are in a similar business, get answers to questions and just simply have some fun.
-
Here are my top 3 reasons small business owners should be on LinkedIn:
-
1. When you sign up for LinkedIn, you have a main page for your business. In this page people will see everything about you and your business that is necessary to promote your business and build your reputation as an expert in your field. Be sure to fill in all of the fields and take full advantage of what this will do for you.
-
2. You will have great visibility to everyone and this can only mean the potential for drawing in customers when they see what you have to offer. Another way this makes you visible is that your page will get crawled and searched by the web bots and become more visible.
-
3. Use LinkedIn to join communities and groups within your area or business focus. This is important for two reasons; one is to get great advice from peer business when you have questions, and you can also gain insight about your competition.
-
Join LinkedIn today and see what it can do for you. You will gain peer support, gain business insight, and help others to see you as an expert in your field.
–
If you have a LinkedIn account, re-visit all the benefits and features this social platform provides for your business.

Hi Nick! Wow! I always look forward to your visits because you leave such kind words for me! No need for thanks at all…it is through sharing & supporting each other that we can all experience success in our business life & personally too. I’m very pleased that you’ve been finding information in my blogs that is easy to understand, simple to implement and supports your efforts. LinkedIn is wonderful, isn’t it? There are so many avenues within the site to follow…each one leading to more and more communities where professionals network and give/get vital information. Have you joined any LinkedIn groups yet? They are great sources of information as well as fantastic venues to connect with other like-minded professionals! I look forward to hearing additional updates on your continued success and wish you a wonderful week!
Hi Lynn,
I was just reading about the importance of LinkedIn and I have to say that I just love this platform. I think it is most useful for attracting the people that are most important. Even Facebook can’t compete with it when it comes to attracting the right audience.
Mariella Lombardi recently posted..30 Women With Sexy Abs Dance Around Me
Glad to hear Mariella that you are enjoying LinkedIn as much as I do! You can attract important people that are within your market or niche. While Facebook is able to provide a way to connect with other business professionals, their platform seems to have many more distractions rather than focusing in on business which LinkedIn does best.
Appreciate you visiting today to share your insight. Thank you so much!

Great post Lynn
I was ignoring LinkedIn as I didn’t find it useful. But lately I’ve heard of groups and how they can be effective in generating leads. Professional network with business related people (Intentions matters too), increase visibility and recent study statistics you shared – Now I have to take your reasons into account.
Thanks for your LinkedIn posts Lynn
Cheers…
Mayura recently posted..Update Your Facebook Status from Twitter with Selective Tweets
Thanks Mayura and also for sharing this on your Facebook too! Yes, LinkedIn is kind of like the black sheep of social media, and I think it is because many do not understand how to implement and utilize the platform.
LinkedIn groups, in my opinion, is the best marketing tool you can have on the internet, period! It is a tremendous tool for making those connections, building leads, prospects and then they have confidence in you and your business to become that paying customer or client.
It is also a wonderful referral source and a tool for researching other companies. Sorry — I guess I got carried away – but as you can tell Mayura, I love LinkedIn for business!
Thanks again for stopping in and sharing your thoughts!

I really enjoy the groups in LinkedIn. I have joined quite a few groups and I try to keep up on the discussions. Great resource.
Janette Fuller recently posted..Golden Oldies For Kids: Animated Numbers Book 1945
Yes I agree Janette, the groups are an amazing resource. I know I have met many of my current and past clients through groups. Appreciate you sharing your insight on LinkedIn that will be helpful for others.
You make 3 very good points about the value of LinkedIn.
I’m a huge fan of LinkedIn and I agree that it’s undervalued. If someone is serious about being in business, they need to join LInkedIn and get involved. I link my tweets to LinkedIn and have made a few business contacts by staying in front of customers on a regular basis.
Lisa Kanarek recently posted..How to Prepare Your Home Office for a Natural Disaster
That is awesome Lisa. That is a good point too. LinkedIn is yet another way to ‘link’ to your other social sites and really build a powerful business tool that brings an enormous about of visibility.
Thanks so much Lisa for sharing your experience on LinkedIn as I think it will help others to see it really is undervalued but shouldn’t be.
I LOVE LinkedIn. I manage one group and meet great people through that but for me connecting on LinkedIn with people I need in real life just means I get to know more about them and their connections and then have the wonderful opportunity to share without spamming
Roberta Budvietas, recently posted..How to get a Construction Management Agreement
So good to hear Roberta. Another positive promo for a site that you are finding (just like me) to be an amazing way to connect with those that mean something to our business and bring value to them as well.
Thank you so much for sharing your comments today Roberta. It certainly should get those that are on the fence with LinkedIn, to jump off and jump in!!
I’m with PeggyLee on this one.
Especailly sice I rarely find out what coffee shop or fast food restaurant someone visited on LinkedIn.
Roy A. Ackerman, PhD, EA recently posted..A shot to be felt ’round the world?
LOL, yes I know what you mean Roy. I don’t think I have ever had some one from LinkedIn feel it was necessary for to let us know what they had for dinner. I think that is why LinkedIn is my favorite social platform for business. It is where the majority of my clients find me and I enjoy connecting with other like minded business professionals.
Appreciate you stopping in and sharing your comments!
Another suggestion is to start your own group.. that way you can draw your clients to you so they can not only join in the discussion, they can also provide you in creating solutions to the problem they feel most right now.
I love LinkedIn and everything it provides — and I love how you bring a new fever pitch to its importance, Lynn. Thank you!
Yes it is true Peggy I do have that sense of urgency for small business owners when it comes to LlinkedIn
This is because of my own personal and outstanding experience with LinkedIn over the past 2 years. So I hope my continued urging will at least get others to take a different look at LinkedIn.
And glad you added the tip about starting your own group. LinkedIn is one of the best platforms to start a group and gain a huge benefit. Thanks again Peggy for sharing your thoughts and advice, I really appreciate the positive support!
