As an online marketer, you know the marketing value
of social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter – but have you ever stopped to consider LinkedIn marketing as one of your best online assets?
There’s no denying that LinkedIn is an underutilized social networking site. Many online marketers aren’t sure of what to make of it, so they instead use it as a place to publish their credentials and add serious clout to their online marketing efforts. While this is a great LinkedIn marketing tactic, there’s another way to use LinkedIn that can seriously up the ante on your online efforts…
…Use it for SEO purposes.
LinkedIn has an incredibly high PR ranking (the measurement Google uses to quantify the value of websites); that means that information contained on your LinkedIn profile will often place higher than that of your own website.
With this in mind, it’s incredibly vital to optimize your LinkedIn profile with your most powerful keywords. Don’t use up this valuable online space as a resume; instead, optimize it with keywords, insert content-rich descriptions of yourself and your online business, and link back to your own website. Not only does this move place you higher in search engine rankings for your keyword, but it also directs high-value SEO juice back to your website, thus increasing its search engine rankings as well.
When it comes to successful online marketing, be sure this secret LinkedIn marketing tactic plays a key role in your overall SEO efforts.

Hi Lynn
“LinkedIn has an incredibly high PR ranking”
Never knew that but well worth knowing.
If Google likes something….
Thanks for the info.
Blog is looking fantastic Lynn.
Keith
Yes I agree Keith, if Google likes something …. well, that pretty much means you are doing something right.
Linkedin has proven to be a very important factor in the last 8 months for my business. I think you can tell I love Linkedin!
And thank you so much Keith for the kudos on my blog, coming from you is a real compliment! Really appreciate you stopping by today.
No Problem Lynn
Many thanks for the Linkedin info.
Holy mackerel! I hadn’t even thought of that, Lynn! =) I’ve been pondering how to change my job title to something snazzier for quite some time, but I hadn’t even considered figuring in SEO tactics. And what a neat way to get a value-adding backlink too! You are a true expert, friend! =)
Thanks Samantha! Go for it girl… you have a wonderful writing skill that I am sure your ‘snazzy’ title will benefit your Linkedin profile. Anything that can grab your audiences attention and keep them moving down and looking more into your profile is key.
Appreciate you stopping in and letting me know this is a tip that will be helpful. Let me know after you make changes, how your ranking changes on Linkedin. I think you will be pleasantly surprised!
LinkedIn is a powerful tool that is not well understood. Facebook seems cool but LinkedIn is powerful.- Twitter – well still looking at that.
One challenge I note with LinkedIn is that many professionals just miss the boar as they fail to use it for their career and work planning.

I agree Roberta, and once more folks understand that power of Linkedin, they probably will see how they can incorporate this social platform into their business plans. Thanks for joining in Roberta and sharing your comments.
Well, DANG! Another thing I need to get busy with and figure out.
Just kidding, and thanks for the tip! I’ll move it to my “today” list.
Oh I like to hear that Paula … your Today List! I think the more you find out about Linkedin and all that it offers for you and your business, you will see why I’m such a huge fan, lol. Glad you enjoyed the tip and always appreciate you stopping by, thanks Paula!
Hey Lynn,
This looks interesting. LinkedIn has been around for a long time and people have been using it as an online CV. Though I have benefited loads from the LinkedIn groups – I met many bloggers through that; I wonder why people aren’t maximizing its effectiveness. Maybe your talk will make all the difference!
Do a post a video of it if possible!
I also wonder Hajra, why others are not maximizing Linkedin. Most people that I have talked to say they are not clear how to implement Linkedin for their business. Just like how many were confused about Twitter. I do believe the training program I have spent a lot of time producing, will be a huge benefit for those ebiz owners, entrepreneurs and industry professionals.
I will certainly let you know when we launch, which I am hoping it will be within the next week. My free webinar will provides loads of info, and I want to have time to answer as many questions as I can. I hope you will be able to join in.
Thank you so much Hajra for sharing your thoughts and how Linkedin is helping you and your business.
Great secret tactic, Lynn!
I think it’s high time online marketers shift their thinking and change their whole LinkedIn strategy. For the longest time, LinkedIn was viewed as a very credible but “sleepy” venue for job searching and the posting of resumes. Well, those days are gone!
SEO strategy aside, I find the LinkedIn groups to be a great benefit to spending time there. I’ve met lots of fabulous people and I’ve gained new readers to my blog and new subscribers, as well. What I really cherish about LinkedIn is the opportunity to cross paths will some awesome JV partners. True professionals hang out on LinkedIn and they’re far more serious about building their businesses and helping you to build yours.
My motto is …
“It’s A Win-Win At LinkedIn!”
Absolutely LOVE your motto Melanie! I couldn’t have said it any better when you talk about how Linkedin is not just your job search site, it is so much more and those professionals that really get it and jump in now, will reap its benefits. Thank you so much for your wonderful support, great advice and sharing how Linkedin has changed your business. It has certainly changed mine and that is why I’m so excited to share what I have learned, implemented and executed. I look forward to helping others realize what we already know about Linkedin!
Thanks, Lynn.
