If you’re an avid fan of this blog (and I hope you are!), you know by now that I love to sing the praises of LinkedIn. From connecting you with other professionals in your industry to funneling tons of traffic to your ecommerce site, I’m a massive fan of all the incredible opportunities LinkedIn can bring about.
-
Now there’s something even more special you can do with your LinkedIn profile: bring visibility to your purpose.
-
So what exactly do I mean by this? Well, it’s simple: bringing purpose and visibility to your business via LinkedIn means establishing yourself as a bona fide expert. The more you connect with your fellow industry professionals and colleagues, the more opportunities you have to spell out what it is that you do, and what you hope to accomplish. This gets people excited about what you’re doing, which translates into more visibility for your business.
-
LinkedIn also gives your followers a better sense of what your purpose is. When followers examine all the industry connections you have, your goals, and the groups you make regular contributions to, they understand the primary purpose behind your business. This translates into more traffic, more sales, and ultimately, more loyal clients who are ready to buy from you again and again.
-
It’s no exaggeration to say that LinkedIn provides online entrepreneurs with a wealth of business-building opportunities. If you haven’t already signed up for a LinkedIn profile, I recommend you do so now. The benefits alone will amaze you!

How is Linkedin providing visibility for you and your business? Does your profile communicate the purpose and benefits to your audience?

What I love about Linked In is the ability to connect with professionals and I’ve built a fairly deep number of connections. So for networking and connecting, especially to those up to similar goals, it is a great tool. However, when it comes to day to day interaction, posting events and even using the discussion function, I find it cumbersome and time consuming. It is so easy to create and promote an event on Facebook. It feels a bit clunky compared to other social media sites. I will, however, to continue to use it as on the plus side, there is a higher sense of it being focused on the professional side of life.

Glad to hear Tambre that enjoy Linkedin for making connections. As for setting up events, I found Linkedin to be just as easy as setting up an event on Facebook. And I like the look of the event page on Linkedin. Facebook has too many adverts and other distractions. But I know for a lot of people, Facebook is what they go to first when setting up an event.
I agree with you Tambre about Linkedin having a higher sense of focus with the professional side. I believe as time goes on, business owners will see how important a presence will be on Linkedin.
Thank you so much for coming by today and sharing your comments.
I find that it’s almost a full-time job to stay current with the plethora of conversations on LinkedIn. Which, I admit, means that I almost never join in any more.
Maybe now that the holiday season is over, I’ll have more opportunities to participate.
Thanks for the reminder, Lynn.

You are welcome Roy. You are right, there are so many ‘discussions’ that we can be involved in on Linkedin. The key is just to pick a time during the week to choose which groups you will check out, participate and connect with others.
The results I gain from Linkedin with the time I put into it, far out weigh what other social platforms provide. One big reason why I am such a fan of Linkedin for my business.
Thanks Roy for stopping by and sharing your thoughts.
But Lynn, you need to bring purpose to everything you do, LinkedIn, commenting, Facebook, not sure about Twitter though. Saw an article this am that says LinkedIn will outlast Twitter and more importantly, it will be the number one source of business collaboration over the next few years. And I truly believe that collaboration is where business has to be in the future.
I have been on LinkedIn almost since the beginning but…it is only recently that I am starting to see the power and potential and over the next week I will working harder on LinkedIn strategies as I look at a small tweak to my business

Oh that brings a smile to my face Roberta! Linkedin is the much overlooked site that businesses are missing a huge opportunity if they are not on it. You mention strategies, and that is the key to any social site and especially for Linkedin. If you need help, I am more than happy to share any pointers, tips or ideas. Just let me know!
