The Importance of a Positive Attitude

Positive Attitude for Online Business Success 244x300 The Importance of a Positive AttitudeLet’s get honest here.  How many of you truly believe that you have a positive attitude?
-

I’m guessing that not many hands shot up into the sky.  And quite frankly, I’m not particularly surprised.  Living a busy day-to-day life filled with frantic errands, endless meetings, non-stop bill payments, and all the other stresses of modern life can make it feel like any ounce of positive energy has been sucked out of us.
-

But I can’t state this enough: If you want to become a successful online entrepreneur, you need to embrace the power of a positive attitude.
-

Now, I’m not about to launch in a mini-speech that’s reminiscent of something you’ll read in The Secret (although it’s a fantastic book!).  When it comes to your online business, the importance of a positive attitude really comes into play because it keeps you running, even when you feel like you’re on empty.
-

When I was building up my online business, there were so many obstacles and setbacks that made me want to crawl into bed and hide away for a few days.  It seemed like I was taking one step forward, and fifty steps back.  For a few months there, I felt like I always had something to worry about.  Why wasn’t my website ranking the way it should?  Why isn’t site traffic coming in?  How can I find the time to work on my business when I barely have enough time to brush my teeth?
-

But you know what kept me working right through these worries and concerns?
-

My positive attitude.
-

I just knew if I kept that smile on my face…that if I kept working and finding ways around my obstacles…that if I inherently believed it would all work out for me…I would become an online success.
-

And you know what?  I’m happy to say that I’m there.
-

A positive attitude isn’t about being overly optimistic.  It’s about having the confidence to understand that your strength, integrity, and dedication is enough to power through any roadblock on the journey to online success.
-

And that’s why a positive attitude is so critical to your online business!  My tag line has never changed … My Passion Is Your Success!  And I believe if you have that positive attitude, you too will reach your goals and dreams.
-

Now maybe I got a little too “sappy” in this post – but in either case, how is your attitude these days?  Please share your thoughts, comments or questions below …..

You’re right that a positive attitude can make all the difference in many parts of life, not just blogging. Who wants to be around someone with a dark cloud over their head? A (former) friend was so negative and difficult to be around that I stopped staying in touch. It was exhausting to be around her.

For the most part I keep a positive attitude and hope for the best. That isn’t always easy, but I think it makes a big difference in the outcome of certain situations.

I agree Lisa, being around negativity can be exhausting and bring you down. I had to make a conscious effort over the years to only maintain positive connections and it has really helped me, my business and my personal life as well.

It does take work in keeping that positive attitude as you say, so I am glad that you shared that in this discussion. Thanks so much for coming by today, always appreciate your insight.

    Hi Lynn,

I can’t imagine how I would have made it through some of those tough times without a positive attitude. It’s true that it makes so much of a difference. Being positive doens’t mean ignoring the bad stuff, it’s just a better way of choosing to deal with that stuff when it happens.

    • Lynn Brown says:

Yup, that is a good point Bonnie! Positive doesn’t mean to ignore the bad stuff….. it helps to stay positive to figure it all out and things seem to be in a better light that can only keep moving us forward.

I saw your post today as well, and we are on the same wave length for sure! I hope others will visit your post as it is yet another inspiring article to keep us positive and having fun!

  5. Michael says:

Definitely not too sappy or Pollyannish at all. Truth is, there is nothing more rewarding or welcomed than a positive attitude. It doesn’t matter where you bring one of those, you will be more than welcome anywhere. Much more so than someone who only wants to score points in a discussion or someone who thinks negativism is the prefect way to live.

Thank you Lynn, for an excellent post and a great reminder of how easy it is to live positively in our world.

So appreciate your warm supportive compliment Michael. You say it best … as negativism is not related to perfection, and that is a good thing for sure. Thank you again for stopping by today and adding your very positive input that will inspire others as well.

  6. Hey Lynn, I had to chuckle to myself when you said that sometimes you wanted to crawl into bed. I’ve been there and have actually done that. In the beginning we start to become overwhelmed with so much information and so much to do. It is not until we reach a momentum with our business that we can sit back and create our DMO (Daily Motion of Operation) that we can find it easier to reach our maximum potential.

Then comes the next phase where we grow to a point that we need to hire an assistant or Virtual Assistant to help us keep up. From there, as we grow, we hire people from Fivver, or other places to compensate all the work we need to do in a day.

It is a business and to run it we need to acclimate ourselves to time management and stay positive. I am blessed to have found a wonderful assistant to pick up my slack with other chores that I cannot personally do …like this! Commenting is important to me. I need to do that myself.

The first time I hired a cleaning service, I freaked out. I cleaned the house all over again because I wondered if they used the same sponge on different places (Yuck) But I had to get used to that.

Staying positive is something we have to get used to doing and also when we feel like we are drowning, we need to hire the help, no matter how OCD our nature may be ha h a we need to do it.

    Thanks Lynn
    Donna

Awesome insight and wonderful way of putting it all together Donna. I love the DMO, have to remember that! You are right about acclimating ourselves as a business and knowing when it is time to hire help and create that team. Otherwise your business will just stagnate rather than growing and being much more helpful for your customers, clients and potential clients.

One issue I had to overcome was not always trying to see an ‘end’…. really there is not end, because we should constantly be growing with our business and finding new ways to communicate, reach out and make our business stronger. That is based on the team we build.

Positive attitude is a must when it comes to building a business. Thank you so much Donna for your true words of wisdom and sharing your experience which others can relate to. So glad that I have met you through the ‘tribe’ and look forward to a long time connection!

  7. I thnk a positive attitude PLUS determination and persistence are the keys to success. I think some people just quit too soon. If you keep on keeping on….and have fun along the way, you will overcome the obstacles that hinder you. Great article, Lynn.

  9. Starting each and everyday with a positive attitude and a smile on our face is far more important than the clothes on our backs. With the positive attitude we can take the difficulties in life and move on. It makes us better not bitter. Your appraoch on the subject was real and easy to relate to. Thankyou

    • Lynn Brown says:

Ohhh, I like that Gloria …. ‘makes us better not bitter’!! A good statement to consider each and every day when thinking about what attitude you want to be in. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful insight and bringing a positive light to the discussion!

  10. Jacob says:

Having a positive attitude is the key to having a successful business. There will be roller coaster. The key is to stay in the middle and not have emotions going up and down. Being consistent with actions will yield high results. Great article!

Good points Jacob. I like your analogy with the roller coaster and back in the day when I loved riding roller coasters, I always wanted to be seated in the middle! lol

Appreciate you stopping by today and sharing your thoughts, a good addition to the discussion.

  11. As I read I was thinking poppycock and then I read the same paragraph as Roy. Again I think the semantics of words often gets us stuck and causes us problems. Being confident and believing in yourself, your abilities and your offering is a form of positiiviey so I hereby both to your wisdom
Roberta Budvietas recently posted..Stuck strategising? My Profile

    • Lynn Brown says:

I second that Roberta! Believing in your abilities and offerings is a very good statement to add to this discussion. Appreciate your contribution and your positive advice.

  12. I’m in total agreement, Lynn! Even before becoming an entrepreneur, I had the positive outlook — and “inner” look! Even when finding out I was not going further with the company, people asked me how I could be so positive… the answer was simple… I could now plan the rest of my life and how I wanted to live it!

    • Lynn Brown says:

Bravo PeggyLee! that is exactly the kind of positive outlook to have. And you mention ‘inner look’ … I agree with you on that, because having a positive attitude does start from within. Good add to this discussion. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts.

  13. Who believes they have a positive attitude? I do, I do!! Not because my life has been easy. Not because it has been hard. Not because I’ve had some amazing experiences. Not because I’ve been through some major challenges. Because I choose it. Therein lies freedom.
Tambre Leighn recently posted..Start Where You Are…My Profile

    • Lynn Brown says:

That is a good statement Tambre …. ‘because you choose it’. If that is the one message I have instilled in our son, it would be that. I would tell him that we choose ‘the road’ we want to travel. So be prepared for decisions and always make the best of them.

So much appreciate you sharing your insight and being such a positive person Tambre!

  14. That next-to-last paragraph is the key, Lynn. Being positive doesn’t mean being pollyanish or overly optimistic. It means you know you have the strength to work your way through the adversity that may come your way.
    Roy A. Ackerman, Ph.D., E.A. recently posted..Narrow straitsMy Profile

Yes, I agree with you on that Roy! Being positive is a good thing and not to be taken any other way but that. So much appreciate you adding your comments in supporting the important to having that positive attitude. Thanks again for stopping by today!

  15. Great Article Lynn! Having a positive attitude sounds like a cliche because we’ve all heard this before, but it’s of the utmost importance! I believe gratitude and a positive attitude go hand in hand. Everyone should be grateful for the small things in life. Things like food, two eyes, limbs that work, water….some people don’t have these luxuries. Lol, I can say that I’m very positive. There are few circumstances that can keep me down! I’m in it to win it!
