Every small business owner needs to have confidence in business. Without it, business owners often lose patience and feel anxious. Those who learn how to improve confidence will stay focused on the task at hand. This allows them to meet their business goals.
I believe the following three strategies will help improve your business self-confidence.
1. Use Confidence Building Products and Tools
There are countless confidence building tools on the market. These come in the form of books, DVDs and self-help programs. It is worth noting that some of these products are packed full of clichés and unusual strategies. However, many products do have useful information. Consumers can pick a legitimate product by reading online reviews. Previous users of the product will have a good idea of whether a book or DVD lives up to the claims made on the cover.
My first “confidence builder” — over 10 years ago — was the series Anthony Robbins – Unleash The Power Within That Will Transform Your Life!
This program gave me a ‘kick in the pants’ when I needed it most.
2. Use Positive Affirmations
Studies have shown that repeating affirmations over and over can impact a person’s state of mind. Many people find that using affirmations improve their mood. Men and women who have a positive mindset while at work are more likely to achieve their goals.
Daily affirmations are part of my routine and I know it helps me stay focused. This is something you can put into practice starting today!
3. Maintain a Good Level of Physical Fitness
Exercise benefits the mind and body in many ways. Those who work out regularly will feel strong, healthy and stress-free. Exercise improves their overall mood which, in turn, improves their self-confidence. It is also worth noting that having good endurance levels helps when working long hours.

If I don’t get four days of exercise per week, I feel sluggish and lack creativity. Exercise plays a vital role in keeping you sharp and on the ball!
Most professionals overlook the importance of self-confidence. This is a shame because having the right mindset can change the way a person approaches business routines and ideas. Confident business owners are more likely to fulfill their business objectives and enjoy their work. As a result, their business will run more effectively, efficiently and, most importantly, more profitably.
I welcome your comments, strategies & experiences! Please feel free to share your thoughts.
Wishing you confidence in all you do…

I love these stickers Lynn;)
If we could only repeat these affirmations and believe them 100% success would be guarantied!
I think therefore I am said René Descartes,
Everything starts form having the right mindset, the rest is just mechanics;)And even the physical activity starts from our thoughts,)
Thanks for sharing dear Lynn ; I always enjoy your posts|

Always like to bring a smile to your face, Patricia! And…that brings to mind a thought connected to your comment about having the right mindset. Did you know that if you smile, even though you might be mad or unhappy, the physical action of smiling actually improves your mood…how great is that?! So…you’re absolutely correct in saying, “…even the physical activity starts from our thoughts.” Thanks for coming along on this journey to success with me and for sharing your thoughts. Have a wonderful day!
Lynn, thanks for the great words. I agree wholeheartedly with physical fitness. I would add that good nutrition is a very important aspect of fitness. We can exercise all we want, but without good nutrition, we’re in trouble. I’ve been making a lot of green smoothies lately
Also, the more I cultivate integrity and face my character flaws with a plan of action, the more confident I feel.

A green smoothie sounds pretty tasty right now, Steve
You’re absolutely right about the nutrition advice. It always makes me smile whenever I see people work-out like crazy & then go to the bakery down the street & “treat” themselves to a gooey pastry…but they order a diet cola to go along with it
I particularly like your comment about facing character flaws. We all have them…no one is perfect! But, if we acknowledge our flaws, work a plan to address those flaws and try to live the best life we know how…that’s when life gets good!
Thanks for stopping by & for sharing such mindful comments. Have a great day!
Hi Lynn,
Very nice tips dear
Confidence play a major role in our lives. Absolutely in hard times, when you have no sales or profit in businesses but still you never give up. Honestly, I don’t use any products or tools but reading such inspirational blogs of my friends, interacting with friends who are very helpful and positive minded are always helps me keep faith on me and increase confidence of myself. Actually I have good friends related to blogging including you who always realistic and accept challenges.
Affirmation, absolutely
They are comments I get at my blog and from my friends. They helps a lot to build my confidence. Actually I don’t do exercises but travel and do few things like that in some days. Else I’m glued to my chair in front of PC
Anyway meditation helps me build my confidence too, always. Anyway I’m not much troubled with stuff and have a positive mind as I guess, but only have fears myself like public speaking. I’ve set ‘em as my goals and I’m building confident on ‘em too. Stepping towards making my hobby as my profession
I will call you right at that point…
Nice post and inspiring… Post itself build confidence if you are confident enough to learn and apply them…
Cheers…

Mayura, you mentioned some very important things in your comments…using meditation & internalizing the affirmations from friends! Excellent advice! As far as the exercise thing goes, traveling can be a real workout at times…right?! Running through airports & toting all that luggage burns more calories & builds more muscles than we give it credit for
Glad to hear your taking steps towards turning your hobby into your profession. If you have a passion for something, success is sure to follow! I look forward to hearing from you whenever you’re ready.
As always, thanks for your thoughtful comments and have a wonderful day!
Hi Lynn,
I agree with you that self confidence is very important when running a business., and gain trust with customers and potential customers. It is important to read to open our minds to what we can achieve in business. If we want good health to enjoy life and business it is important to be fit. Glad to hear you agree about the importance of self-confidence & its connection to a customer’s perception. You’re also exactly right about “…opening our minds to what we can achieve…” — an open mind & open heart open the possibilities! Thanks so much for dropping by & for taking the time to share your thoughts. Have a super day!

I love that you placed the exercise on the list, Lynn! How important it is! Days that I cannot wake up early enough to exercise before work (oh well, it happens), I try to sneak in a 20 min walk midday – it’s amazing how different you feel! I’d also like to encourage everyone to go out for a walk rather than exercising in the gym when the weather is nice. We don’t spend enough time outside I found and this affects our general being and mood.

Wonderful encouragement Delia. I agree being outside rather than in a gym just seems to clear your head and make you feel much better. I even enjoy those rainy (sprinkling) days with an umbrella. The smells, the coolness and things seem quieter when it is raining.
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and offering another way to maintain that healthy physical well being. Hope you enjoy your day and visit again soon!
Lynn Brown recently posted..Stop Struggling And Use These Small Business Blog Ideas
Hi Lynn,
you give some great ideas here. I don’t really use affirmation but I like to think that I try to maintain a positive way of thinking. Of course there occurs anxiety and worry sometimes, but I think that as long as I don’t indulge in it and as long as I don’t stop doing my job, it all works out in the end.
And of course keeping fit and healthy is of utmost importance as you have pointed out.

Mariella: Maintaining a positive attitude is vital…it affects not only how live our life & how productive we are but also how we’re “seen” by others. Haven’t you ever passed by someone on the street & were able to just feel the positivity radiating from them? Sounds strange, but it’s true! And…if all else fails…indulging in a bit of chocolate never hurts, right?
Just a little! Thanks for sharing so openly & honestly. Have a super weekend!
Hi Lynn,
I must be doing all right because I do all three of them. I learned years ago than any entrepreneur should read at least 10 pages a day of any personal development book of their choice, and that’s what I do.
Affirmation is important, because whether we like it or not we do have affirmations in our head, but if we don’t CHOOSE them, well they choose use in a way and the negative songs go on… know what I mean?
Physical fitness is really part of how we are going to feel physically, therefore, it’s related to our success.
Thanks for those important three points you brought home!

Great point about “choosing” our affirmations…those negative little gremlins too easily take over if we let them, right? Thanks for sharing your comments & have a great weekend!
So glad that you stressed both PHYSICAL and MENTAL fitness to maintain our positive attitydes, Lynne.

Hi Lynn!
You’re right, confidence is SO important in business and life in general. Without self-confidence, how are you going to be able to promote your business.
I find exercise helps. I should probably do more, but what I do do helps me to feel better about myself and makes me feel more confident.
Great post Lynn, keep up the great work.
Matt Smith recently posted..How To Use Social Media Marketing Successfully For Your Business
Thanks for your comments, Matt. I’m right there with you on the exercise thing…don’t think I know anyone who feels like they have got the exercise thing down pat. Don’t you think a lack of confidence is noticeable even in someone’s writing/blogging? A lot of people feel like self-confidence (or lack thereof) is only noticeable in more personal settings (face-to-face or over the phone) than online, but I think having self-confidence (or lacking it) shows in one’s online presence as well. So, you’re exactly right…how would you be able to promote your business without it? Hope you have a great weekend!
