I tend to agree that most people do like to get information via video, especially when the videos are short, top the point and provides the answers or solutions they are looking for. On the other hand, longer videos are good for ‘how to’ or ‘step by step’ trainings.
The transcription of your video is important though because you will still have people wanting to print or read the information.

I’ve recently started making videos for a local blog I have about my city. Usually I just go to a local landmark and film it while giving a running commentary.
It’s amazingly quick and easy to do. And people are clearly interested in this kind of content. The videos get consistent traffic on YouTube and people do seem to watch them all the way through. I’ve also had a reasonable number of clicks to the URL listed in the description. And this is all without actually promoting them anywhere else.
If what I’ve seen applies to other niches (and I think it does) then videos are an extremely effective way to get known and draw traffic.
Appreciate you sharing your experience with making videos Matt. Sounds like a great idea and I agree with you, making videos are easy. I think some folks get caught up with the technical side of making videos, but if you just turn on the camera and start talking from the heart, people will listen.

I always make sure that each of my blog post has something interesting for the readers, it could be either a video, or an infographic.
Adding a video to your blog post has its on advantages for SEO as well. If you submit the XML video sitemap of your blog post, even your blog posts can be indexed in SERP with video thumbnail and increase the traffic.

I’ve also started to use video in my blog posts and so far it’s working great. Although I haven’t seen any traffic coming from Youtube, that doesn’t bother me.
I usually stick to screen capture tutorial related to wordpress or blog related things.
I feel it’s way better to actually show people how to do something rather than just writing instructions.
