Blog Bullet Strategy 285x300 Bulletproof Blogging Strategies To Pull In More TrafficIt is no secret that you need traffic to your blog to start building those connections and building relationships with your audience.

Here are some bulletproof blogging strategies to increase your blog’s traffic, subscribers, readers, and visibility.

Use these strategies to make your blog the go-to blog in your industry.

Blog Content:

Keep your blog content simple. Plan your blog’s content for the best blog strategy. Your content has to bring in new readers, and keep the ones you have. Make it interesting, entertaining, educational, surprising, and even controversial. Think about your reader sharing your blog’s content with social media networks and email. If it’s not worth sharing, don’t post it!

Make it Interactive:

This is one of the number one blog strategies out there. Engage your readers. If your readers are involved with your blog they are more likely to visit your blog more often than if they were not involved. Have a poll, ask a question for an open thread, or have a free giveaway. All of these will make your blog strategy stronger. Your readers will post comments and visit more often. They will also stay on your blog longer. It’s a win-win situation for you and your readers.

Videos and Photos:

Use them. Too many blog writers out there do not take advantage of posting photos and videos on their blogs. This blog strategy works well. Add at least one photo to each blog post, and post a video every so often. Some blogs have a specific day every week in which they post a video for their subscribers. It just makes things more interesting for your readers. Go to YouTube to find videos and copy and paste the embed code into your blog post. Like photos, videos make the word content on your blog easier to read.

  1. Hi Lynn,
Thank you for this post it’s so cool to post video blogs and add specific questions that will engage the audience.
    One question:
Is there a risk the potential clients get off our site while watching the video we post?
Is there an examle of viedo you could send here ( a link) to avoid such a problem?
    Thanks!
    Patricia

Nice and simple tips that everyone can take advantage of Lynn! Well said!

I love the challenge of finding just the right pic to go with my blog post and will make a game of it!:) And of course, I have “Play Bigger” Friday’s where I post a video to highlight a key strategy for entrepreneurs — in an entertaining way! Even I go back to get a little inspiration from time to time…smile

And of course, it increases my traffic and subscribers…so there is gold in them thar hills! :)

    • Lynn Brown says:

That is a very good idea Chris. Love that…. Play Bigger Friday’s! Anything to bring in more traffic, catch visitors attention or bring your current clients back in is a huge plus.

Thank you Chris for stopping by and sharing your tips and advice.

    Lynn,

    These are great points!

Providing different types of content is important – not only to your audience but yourself too. It’s a one way to keep your motivation up and publish content on a consistent basis.

I’m personally publishing text-only content, videos and podcasts. Each of those content types have their sides (certain type is easier to produce and so on). Also, each of those types reach different audiences.
    Timo

    • Lynn Brown says:

Good advice Timo. I think your strategies are good and especially if you know they work for you and your audience. Really appreciate you stopping in and offering your thoughts on this topic. Look forward to you stopping by again soon.

  4. Great tips and recommendations, Lynn.  I’d like to add one point. The was alluded to in #2 – Make it Interactive but to be more specific: Respond to comments, as you do beautifully.

Our blog is our home on the internet.  Just as it would be extremely rude to ignore your visitor, especially one whom you invited, it’s rude to ignore the people who’ve taken the time to leave a thoughtful comment on our blogs.

I don’t use videos as often as I should, but when I do the response is great. Thank you for the reminders.

    • Lynn Brown says:

Well said Yvonne! It is considered to be rude when not responding to your audience and it would not be a smart thing to do since interacting to your visitors is key.
I really like what you said about “our blog is our home on the internet”… and it really is. It is our personality and how we want to be seen by others. So I glad that you added that to the discussion, it is awesome advice!

Thanks for stopping by and if you do put up a video on your blog, please let me know. I will be happy to help promote the post, link and video!

  5. Grant says:

Hey Lynn, here’s a few more tips I got from a trusted source.
    1. Integrate your blog with your main website, don’t use a free external blog.
    2. don’t publish too much about you or your products.
    3. don’t publish off topic or unfocused content.
    4. don’t expect overnight success.
there’s a lot to blogging when you think about it.

    • Lynn Brown says:

You are right Grant, there is a lot more to blogging, but these tips you are sharing are more great things to keep in mind when blogging. Really appreciate you stopping by and adding to the discussion. Whenever we can help each other learn, it helps us all to grow and succeed!

  6. Great tips here, Lynn.

Video seems to be the way to go.  I share some videos on my blog, and I usually get them from YouTube. The nice part about posting videos made by others that are related to your topic is that it only takes minutes to post them and add some text.

I do want to start doing more of my own, though.  I need to get over that barrier and start using some screen capture videos. Can I ask you to keep pushing me to do that?  You set such a great example with your own videos!

    • Lynn Brown says:

How kind of you to say Daphne. Let me tell you that my mentoring program with Tom Breeze has really ‘pushed me’ into things I would have dragged my feet even today. Now I enjoy doing the videos, the editing is time consuming, but I enjoy it!

I hope you will go back and do at least one video by lets say, end of next week. Lets see if you can put together a 1 minute video tip or announcing a blog post or whatever you can think of. Have fun with it and of course, let me know.

  7. Maureen Hunter says:

Thanks for the great tips Lynn. Pictures do make a huge difference, as do videos. I am yet to try the poll – do you use a plug in for that???

    • Lynn Brown says:

Thanks Maureen.  You know I have not looked into a WP plugin yet for polling, but I am sure you can.  I have used survey’s (like SurveyMonkey) and they get some great response.  I have also used Polls on HubPages and of course through Facebook.  Even though I do mention polling on your blog, you can take a poll from any venue and write a review from what information you gathered.  People generally like that kind of thing and respond to it.

  8. These are all great tips, Lynn. I think you have to be patient and persistent.
Your blog will probably not become a huge success overnight, but days turn into weeks, weeks into month and months into years.
If you keep on keeping on, you will attract a large following.

    • Lynn Brown says:

Two very good add-on’s Janette.  The Two P’s!!  Patience is critical as too many give up too soon.  So when you mention persistance, that is key to make things happen over time.  Good stuff.  Thank you so much for stopping by and sharing your advice.

  9. Good tips – still looking for videos for uploading. Working hard to find them or make them

    • Lynn Brown says:

Thanks Roberta.  I have an easy tip on this Roberta ….. You could go to Google search, click on videos (on left side bar) then type in keywords that best fit the topic you are wanting to discuss, and you can quickly perruse the search results.  Choose a video, then write a short review and add to your post.  It might be something to try out for your next blog post?  :)

  10. Great tips, Lynn! I’ve been thinking a lot about videos lately. One of my freelancing clients encourages videos because they increase time spent on the blog. I wonder if it’s useful to include any YouTube video (relevant to the post, of course) and not just those made by me… thoughts? =)

    • Lynn Brown says:

Thanks Samantha.  Videos are proving to be a great way to bring more awareness about you, your business and business, also to build credibility.  Good to hear you are thinking about adding videos to your marketing plans.  Sharing others videos is certainly ok to do, however, your audience will get so much more from you when you talk to them, show them, teach them, share things thru video.

Videos seem to make more of an impact on connections, credibility and trust.  Give it a try, after a doing a couple of videos, you will find them to be lots of fun and bring another dimension.

Love these 3 simple but essential tips.  I am still working on videos but I have always been adding an image to my posts.  I have in the past also done posts with YouTube videos and find they have got good responses :)

Sounds like you are on track Diana, and loving the interaction videos provide.  Please share your YouTube channel as I would love to subscribe, comment and share your videos Diana.

  16. I’m with you, Lynn.  Especially with #1.  Write it (well) and they will come (with a little help and publicity)

    • Lynn Brown says:

And it really is that simple Roy! BUT… gotta say I remember when I started my blog back in October last year. It was a bit of a struggle to put together content and be consistent with my market niche. It does take time and lots of practice. I’m glad that I have blogging biz buddies like you, Melanie, Samantha and others that have such a great writing flair. You can learn a lot about writing from others posts and articles.

Thanks Roy for stopping in and sharing your thoughts!
