1) >> Determine Your Niche:

People want to visit sites that are interesting, funny, and most of all different. Find either a new or neglected area of your particular industry, one that will be attractive to a target audience. When creating a blog post, ask if people will want to read it everyday. If the response is yes, create a blog.

Blogging, even for small business, should never be a chore. When someone who is interested in its subject creates a blog, readers will appreciate and catch on to the enthusiasm. Be willing to explore different forms of media. Some of the best and most popular blogs today contain videos, images, and even surveys. These help to break up text and keep people interested.

Being someone that you are not will be evident in your writing, so I agree with you Timothy on these points that you make. However, just recently I have been learning some other blogging strategies that relates to sharing current topics with your audience, topics that are current events or funny videos that people are commenting about.

It is a good way to bring some fun and excitement into your blog and attracting the search engines with current topics of interest.

Really appreciate you stopping by today and sharing your insight. Hope you will consider to stop by again soon.

  9. Wendy DeVries says:

The point that rings true to me is “enthusiasm.” Just as facial expressions reveal your true feelings, words convey the same emotions. Your audience can definitely tell if your content comes from an authentic passion for the topic or if you are simply “phoning it in.” Thanks for sharing!

    • Lynn Brown says:

Really good analogy you point out Wendy. I love that …. “expressions reveal your true feelings, words convey the same emotions”. It seems so simple yet for many (me included when I first started to write for my blog) can find it overwhelming.

However, when you let your passion speak it really does convey an ‘authentic’ person behind the words.

Thank you so much for sharing your insight as it is a great addition to the discussion. Please come back and visit again soon. Have a great day!

Consistency is key. Super important point to drill home.

Work to improve your blog each daily. Up the ante. Find interesting topics and take a different approach in your presentation.

I agree with PeggyLee; making real connections with individuals grows your blog quickly. Imagine a network expanding each time you develop a powerful connection. Be a friend to someone. Watch how quickly your influence grows.

  11. Hi Lynn. I love #4!
However, consistency is the key factor of blogging. You cannot afford to miss a beat. You have to ask yourself how much time do I really have to spend on blogging. There are many schools of thought that you must blog once a day, once a week, twice a week. But when it comes down to it, your reality when setting up your time schedule is the best for you.
I’m not a once a day blogger, for me it would take me away from other tasks. But once a week is all I can handle. Especially commenting on my visitors blogs. Also being on all the social platforms. It all takes time, and when we are consistent with our own personal time, it will be successful.
The other points are just as important.
    Thanks for sharing your knowledge,
    Donna

    • Lynn Brown says:

How true that is Donna. Consistency is based on an individuals schedule, goals and abilities. While blogging is very important, it can be a time sucker. So managing it properly is key. And you say it well … “when we are consistent with our own personal time, it will be successful”

I like that quote! Thanks for stopping by today and sharing your wonderful insight and advice. Really adds to the discussion and helpful for others. Have a great weekend!

  12. Mayura says:

Nice tips Lynn :) You are addressing critical points of blogging where people sometimes get misunderstood about blogging.

Some people talking about buying followers and sometimes try to offer me such followers for FREE. I have no faith in ‘em. It’s a myth and no one will participate, actually no loyal followers. ‘Cause they were just bought not liked the content being published or product they offer.

Personally. I’ve seen some bloggers give up soon. They say blogging doesn’t worth anymore. But I see they don’t consistent. They publish quality content but first day is not the best day. May be no one will come stop by. So have to improve gradually, like we learnt how to speak languages when we were babies.

Further, I think evaluating and asking or welcoming user feedback is another important aspect too :)

    Cheers…

    • Lynn Brown says:

You make some interesting points here Mayura. Giving up too soon is the number one reason why you will hear those people saying blogging or online marketing does not work. Any success comes with a lot of time, work and passion.

Asking for feedback is another good tip for a successful blog. This will get your audience engaged and usually coming back to visit again. This is what builds the connection, relationship and soon a buying customer or client.

Thank you for sharing your awesome comments and advice. Glad you stopped by to add your thoughts and look forward to you visiting again soon.

  13. Lisa says:

Yes, it’s a great way to reach new audiences too and connect with potential customers or friends of potential customers and make some great friends along the way too. You are right about consistency, it will take TIME, months or even years so don’t give up is key.

  16. Hi Lynn,
Thanks for reminding us these useful tips,
I agree with consistency it takes time determination and a plan to be consistent, creative and always monitoring what competition offers.
I also agree with Roberta’s comment in Italy my market does not read blogs so it is important to know where they are and then bring them to read and comment our posts;)

Roberta did make a great point and glad that you mentioned your area where you are from. Really glad you stopped by today to share your comments. Have a wonderful day!

  17. In writing the blog for Eat the Rhino this morning Lynn, I realized that a chunk of my target market are offline and do not read blogs, use social media for more than family connection and are reluctant to be online. As such while blogging is a great tool, you have to be careful because you could be missing a large audience of disconnected people

    • Lynn Brown says:

That is true Roberta, you bring up a great point. There are those that are either offline or don’t necessarily ‘blog’. That is when we need to know our market and how to reach our audience. Thank you so much for adding your advice to the discussion. Always appreciate your words of wisdom!

  18. Love these tips. It reminds me of the polly-annish song- Whistle while you work. Try it while you blog (or listen to music that inspired)- and the time (and the blogwriting) will be enjoyable.

    • Lynn Brown says:

Oh that’s a great tip to add here Roy! You got me humming that song as I write this response, lol. Appreciate you adding to the discussion with such a joyful and positive input.

  19. The success I’ve seen is the human connection, which may seem odd for blogging; however, there is a person at both ends — the writer and the reader. And this is where the relationship begins, with the interaction. What helps to establish the rapport is to ask a question or two at the end of the blog; or perhaps give them an assignment and have them report back to you. I love it when I hear from my readers, you will too!

    • Lynn Brown says:

I also find blogging to be an amazing ‘human connection’ PeggyLee. Building connections and relationships are real when you have other bloggers, like yourself, sharing real conversation that are not only helpful but inspiring too.

Thank you for your insight, so glad you stopped by today!
