Recently I visited a couple of groups and forums that I’m a member of. It seems that the biggest question, concern and desire that I hear all the time is . . . . wanting to have a ‘profitable site’.
Questions like — ‘can you really make money online’ and statements saying ‘I paid lots of money for a website and I haven’t made any money’.
It amazes me that still so many people think that having a website on the internet is the ‘key to success’ … Well, it is a ‘key’ but really it is a tool for you to promote your business. How your site is implemented for your business is what really counts.
If you build it … doesn’t mean they will come!
Traffic to your site is required to begin the process of attaining visibility, sales and profits.
THE EQUATION IS LIKE THIS: You get enough visitors checking out what you have to offer, you will have a higher chance of success. BUT… there are other things to consider:
1–Provide valuable information
2–Your site is pleasing to the eye and not offensive
3–Content relates to your business or market
4–Easy to navigate
5–Advertising isn’t in your face or obnoxious
6–Site is properly optimized (SEO)
7–You are interacting with your visitors ALL the time
When you have a complete understanding of what today’s social media madness is all about, that is when you will start seeing the results you want — more traffic, more sales, more profits!
It is called ‘social marketing’ for a reason. Network with people starting with a well designed blog and get ‘social’ each and every day.

Great post here Lynn. Short and sweet! I like the line ”
If you build it … doesn’t mean they will come!” So true!Cheers!
Thank Jun, so glad you stopped by to offer your comments. I like that line
too! Make it a great day.
Great points, Lynn! Social Media is all about being social. You can’t just expect things to happen without going out there and putting in the effort.
You are so right Sandy! Puttin in the effort is so important. Taking
action is key. Thank you so much for stopping by and offering your positive
comments and advice. Hope you will come back and visit again soon.
This is nice information share over here. its provide better idea regarding to get More Social and Profitable Site. i am enjoying this beneficial site.
Appreciate your comments and happy to hear the information is of interest to
you. Being more ‘social’ will be a huge factor in developing a profitable
and successful business.
Hi Lynn, great to explain to people exactly what it’s all about and you certainly have.
I remember our talk recently about a resources section and I’ve still yet to get around to that!
I’m so pleased you mention networking, it is so very important because as I always say ‘a Blog post without an audience is just pictures and words’! Joining Blog communities is a big help too!
You also mention providing good quality content, good point and it’s really not a question of just writing stuff, people have got to come back for more and tell their friends about your Blog. I read a lot of Blogs and some people certainly need to read this post and take your advice! Having said that, I also read some great stuff, that’s very original and inspiring. I guess like life, it takes all sorts, right?
Thanks for the post, it keeps people honest and that’s what devoted Bloggers need sometimes!
All the very best, Peter
Thank you so much Peter for stopping in a leaving such wonderful insight,
comments and advice. I appreciate your kind compliments and support.
I agree with you that a blog post without an audience …it is so
important. The groups that we are involved with has been a tremendous value
in building relationships and connections. It provides such a great support
system.
Yup, we are all our own shining stars and we have so much to contribute to
better our business and personal lives. Thanks again Peter, wishing you an
awesome day ahead!
Very good points that we can all implement, Lynn. The points you listed as part of the equation go hand in hand and are essential for success. Combining that with being social increases one’s visibility and builds their community.
Thanks for sharing these reminders.
Well said Yvonne and I agree, these points really are like an equation for
success. Appreciate you stopping in and offering your insight and advice.
I agree with all you’ve said and I love how you emphasized interacting ALL the time
.
Thank you Leanne. Your blog is an excellent example of interaction,
answering questions, offering advice and tips. Appreciate the support
Leanne.
Very valuable and easy to follow information. Many people miss out on the layout, ending up with too jazzy blogs… Like someone said, it only takes a click to close the page..!
I agree Hajra. Spending all the time and money for a flashy site does not
guarantee visitors or sales. And it is just one click away from grabbing
your audience attention. Thank you so much for stopping in and offering
your comments and advice.
Hi Lynn, that’s one of the first things I have learned since I started blogging – go out and network. Just writing day in and out for your blog does not mean you are marketing your business. You need to be social and that to me is one of the missing ingredient for many people. It’s not the blog that will get your more business – it’s you!
That is so true Diana. Getting yourself out there in cyberspace is so
important. But also getting yourself out into your community can also be a
huge success factor for any business. I really appreciate you taking the
time to share your insight and advice. It really is something we must
consider each and every day.
Diana, I couldn’t agree more. Rolling up your sleeves and getting involved in your community will do more for your business than you can imagine. People connect with people, not companies or web sites.
I couldn’t agree with you more Diana – well said! That is certainly a key
factor that all up-and-coming entrepreneurs should take to heart.
Hi Lynn,
Excellent post with proven tips here.
I follow each strategy. Engagement seems to be key before all else. If you can hold a conversation with another you can connect with another. Connections are the life-blood of any business.
Successful people have large, supportive networks of people who help them, expand their presence and support their endeavors. These networks grow by interacting, asking questions, providing answers, promoting others, and taking each step on a consistent basis.
Awesome stuff Lynn. Thanks for sharing!
RB
Thank you Ryan, so glad to hear that you find these tips as good
strategies. I especially love your statement… “Connections are the
life-blood of any business”. That is it in a nutshell!
What you share really determines the opportunity seekers from the
entrepreneurs. Which is something Rich Schefren teaches and he is a huge
successful guru/entrepreneur. I appreaciate you stopping by Ryan and
sharing your thoughts and good advice.
You have made a good point, Lynn. Getting traffic isn’t the only thing people need to do to have a profitable site. I think the two most important elements you mentioned are providing valuable content and interacting with visitors. Thanks for sharing!
-Jeannette
Thank you Jeannette. Glad to hear that you found some of the elements I
mentioned to be helpful towards a profitable business. Traffic is just a
part of it, but you don’t get traffic unless you have something interesting
or attention grabbing for your visitors. Appreciate you sharing that
insight!
Right on Lynn, I love it when I see people actually doing the right thing, so many people just build and forget, what a waste of time, I guess it all boils down to how success minded we are. There is no free rides, it either take time or money and in most case both are required

motivational Radio
How true you are Anthony. Thank you for stopping by and sharing your
thoughts and advice. I also wanted to thank you for you wonderful
motivational talk the other night on our Mastermind groups call. You shared
many good points and very inspiring. I will be getting with you in the next
couple weeks to look further into talk radio. I think it could be a
wonderful media for me to discuss my new and upcoming training program.
Wow! Thanks so much for this post, Lynn! I didn’t realize that there was so much I hadn’t considered in terms of my blog, Lynn! I really need to work on the appeal, set-up and navigation of my site. I also started working on some SEO-related issues with the laser coaching help! =)
I definitely try to interact with my visitors all the time, but sometimes I take a full day to respond to comments. Do you think that’s too long?
Samantha it is really good to hear that you are taking a proactive approach
to your business. Recognizing what you want to work on, getting help
through coaching and networking is all good for you to keep moving forward.
As for taking a full day responding to comments, and even interacting with
blogs (as I know you are part of a blogging group) I always recommend to
‘schedule’ that in.
So maybe 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the afternoon. That leaves
several hours during the day to schedule for your business and other tactics
for your business. Your interaction will pay off as more and more people get
to know you and want to know more about you and your business.
Stick with it Samantha, you are doing a great job!
That’s a great idea to break up my email and social media time to twice a day, so I don’t miss anything important! =) Thanks for the advice and encouragement, Lynn. =)
Thanks Samantha. You can always give it a try and if it doesn’t work for
you then you can change a schedule that does. Glad to share ideas, that is
what networking is all about. Have an awesome day ahead!
Lynn – its not just in blogs and web sites but in life. People don’t always understand that just because you have the best product in the world, the world will find you. If it was that easy, who knows what would have happened to a few businesses with lousy products but great promotion.
That is so true Roberta! And I suppose you could actually take my 7 ideas and implement them for any business, product or service. Appreciate you stopping in and sharing your thoughts and advice on this topic.
Great site, and good tips. How did you get the pop up box on your like button?
Kindest Regards
Nancy

Thanks Nancy appreciate your kind compliments. The like button is a plugin that was included with this theme. But if you have a WordPress blog you should be able to find that plugin and add to your site. Hope that helps… send me an email if you want to discuss. I would be happy to do so.
Lynn – as usual some great points! I would like to expand on the following statement:
“When you have a complete understanding of what today’s social media madness is all about, that is when you will start seeing the results you want — more traffic, more sales, more profits!”
People have to understand that with today’s technologies and tools – it’s all about “Get Connected” to Social Media and what you contribute in “valuable content” or any content for that matter as that content will always be there. It will continually be available through the search engines – we as individuals have become the “new media”.
Use it effectively and you will be found and as you say – “more traffic, more sales, more profits”
Thank you Corey! and you make some really good points too. Especially the fact about our content will be on the search engines so it is important to think about that as well. We really are becoming the ‘new media’. So thank you very much for stopping in and offering your thoughts and advice.
7 good tips, Lynn!
Like any other online activity, it takes time and patience to get the hang of “social media marketing” before you can expect to see any desired results.
I suspect most of the people you’re bumping into in your groups, etc., who are not seeing any profits are most likely overly anxious to make sales and haven’t spent nearly enough time developing the right kinds of relationships. I also have a feeling they probably need to work much harder at creating a presence online. Like social media marketing, “online visibility” is a challenge and it takes time.
Sometimes entrepreneurs have a tendency to ignore or gloss over the fact that building a business is an awful lot of hard work and there’s no magic bullet, spell, chant, potion, pill, golden key ( or SHORTCUT) for success.
Absolutely Melanie. You hit the nail on the head! It does take work and time to develop who you are to a huge audience we call cyberspace. I also agree that too many are in a hurry up mindset instead of really focusing on creating and developing their presence and awareness.
Thank you so much for sharing your comments, tips and advice.
Great facts, Lynn! I run into these kinds of folks all the time. And, the only two reasons why “If you build it, they will come” worked the way it did – (1) Fables always work and (2) The Lord shined upon him. We mortals have to work hard, instead, as (2) instructed us in the book of Genesis. “By the sweat of our brow” shall we succeed. And, when we do, the brilliance of our aura can match that of the nearest star.
Touche!
Well that is certainly another way to look at it Roy. And I have to agree, we mortals do have to work hard. Thank you for offering your wonderful thoughts, quotes and inspiration.
