Many experts consider social media as among the best means of boosting your online presence and generating leads.  While I agree with that, I learned that creating reputable profiles for my social sites not only started attracting more traffic to my site but I was converting visitors into customers.

In fact, the amount of traffic that you can obtain from LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and several other networking sites can be overwhelming.  So having your site properly set up to allow your visitors to interact with you, purchase your products with ease and sign up to your newsletters resulted in increased income and profits.

I couldn’t tell you how many times I heard the phrase … ‘the money is in the list’.  When you are first starting out it isn’t all that easy to build a list that you can continually market to.  So here is what I found to work best:

This skill is all about testing, testing and more testing.  Yes you will be paying money for ads, so you will want to set up an appropriate budget.  I will be sharing more about solo ads as I learn from the next few campaigns I have in place.

In order to be successful as small business owners or entrepreneurs, the old sayings – “Patience is a virtue” and “All good things come to those who wait” – describe an essential concept demonstrated by virtually all successful professionals. Patience doesn’t come naturally to many of us and must be a learned behavior. If we find it difficult to wait for that “sweet spot” along the road to success, this concept may prove to be our downfall. What is the Right Keyword Density for a Business Site?

More often than not, customers looking for a service or a product depend upon the Internet as their first resource.  It is imperative to have a legitimate site that functions optimally. Consequently, using correct keyword density is vitally important.

 

The first step is selecting a keyword relevant to your business and using it throughout your site. Additionally, garnering high rankings in search engine result pages requires the crucial implementation of correct keyword density.

 

Although this can be a delicate balance to achieve, there is a way to find the proper keyword density for your blog/site without overuse.

 

When a keyword is stuffed throughout a site’s content in an attempt to get noticed by search engines, it can actually end up getting penalized.  It is also distasteful to site visitors when a keyword is overused…a costly mistake for your business. Achieving the perfect balance requires using the keyword adequately, enabling search engines to find the site when indexing without overusing it.

 

The general rule is…the keyword should comprise between 3 to 5 percent of your site content. For example, if a web page consists of 500 total words, change the percent to a decimal and multiply by the number of total words (.03 x 500 = 15 and .05 x 500 = 25). This formula dictates that within a 500-word article the keyword should be used between 15 to 25 times. The keyword should never be used more than the higher of the two numbers, but can be used any number of times within the range.

 

It is paramount to place the keyword within the first and last paragraphs, in addition to scattering it, naturally, throughout the body of the content. Capitalizing upon the correct keyword density makes content appealing to readers and ranks your blog/site higher in search engine result pages.

 

One last “secret”  – I frequently use Google’s Keyword Search Tool. There are many tools that help you find keywords for your business, but Google’s Keyword Search Tool provides great information with just one click.  Finally, make it a practice to revisit your keywords and research new keywords as your business grows. Time spent on this task is an investment in your online business success!

It hit me like a ton of bricks.  My friend understood that trusting others was critical to online success.  I had been so busy avoiding help that I couldn’t see just how much I really needed it.  I finally got up the courage to bring freelancers on board, I asked other entrepreneurs to guest author on my blog and even formed joint partnerships to work on projects and other collaborations – and now, I couldn’t be happier with my decision.  It’s given me more time to spend with my family, and I also get to harness the power of other people’s knowledge and apply it to my business.

Blogging Relevant Content 195x300 How to Come up with Relevant Content for Your BlogIf you have been blogging for quite some time now, you will surely agree as to how it can be really difficult to consistently come up with relevant and fresh content for your blog.  Search engines would love to rank up your site knowing that it offers unique and relevant content.  However, the big question is, how do you come up with new ideas and topics?

Here are some tips for coming up with relevant content for your blog:

1. Maintain a list of possible titles that you can use in the future. When ideas come rushing in, it may be hard to contain them all in your head, so it would be better to keep a list of all the probable topics and titles that you can use.

2. Take time to read other blogs and forums. There is so much information and topics that you can find on the internet, and you can actually use that to your own advantage. You may either find something that you agree or disagree on, or write about a hot topic that everyone’s been talking about. But of course you still need to make sure that these topics are related to your niche or business.

3. Ask a question. A very good way to catch your readers’ interest would be to write about something that demands an answer or a reaction. By doing this, you are not only engaging them to participate, but at the same time you are able to create a good online relationship with people of the same interest.

4. Make a video. This can be a video of yourself as you work on a certain project or task. Readers and visitors will absolutely love to see something new and unique in your site every once in a while. You can also try recording some conversations using podcast or videocast, to add more life and personal touch to your blog content.

If you’ve been reading up on my blog posts
, you already know that I believe the “About Me” section of a website is a critical one for online marketers.  After all, it’s the only place where your followers will learn about who you are, why you’re involved in the industry, and why they should trust you with their time and money.

 

With so many great opportunities available in the “About Me” section of a website, it still amazes me when I visit an entrepreneur’s website…

 

And I can’t locate their name!

 

I can’t tell you how many Fan pages or social media profiles I’ve gone to where the business logo is the main picture, and everything is written in the third person.  And let me tell you, this drives me absolutely nuts.  I know the reason online marketers do this is because they want to create an air of professionalism.  But if you’re not even mentioning your name within your profiles and fan pages, how reliable can you really be?

 

My first reaction to not being able to find a name is frustration, then suspicion.  And if this is my reaction, I can guarantee you that it’s other people’s reactions as well.  Why wouldn’t you want to put your name on your online business…unless you were trying to hide something?  While that may not necessarily be true, it is certainly the way the mind approaches this lack of information.

 

Do yourself a favor and make your name prominent on all your profiles and fan pages.  Your followers and I will thank you for it!

The Importance of a Positive Attitude

I’m guessing that not many hands shot up into the sky.  And quite frankly, I’m not particularly surprised.  Living a busy day-to-day life filled with frantic errands, endless meetings, non-stop bill payments, and all the other stresses of modern life can make it feel like any ounce of positive energy has been sucked out of us.
-

But I can’t state this enough: If you want to become a successful online entrepreneur, you need to embrace the power of a positive attitude.
-

Now, I’m not about to launch in a mini-speech that’s reminiscent of something you’ll read in The Secret (although it’s a fantastic book!).  When it comes to your online business, the importance of a positive attitude really comes into play because it keeps you running, even when you feel like you’re on empty.
-

When I was building up my online business, there were so many obstacles and setbacks that made me want to crawl into bed and hide away for a few days.  It seemed like I was taking one step forward, and fifty steps back.  For a few months there, I felt like I always had something to worry about.  Why wasn’t my website ranking the way it should?  Why isn’t site traffic coming in?  How can I find the time to work on my business when I barely have enough time to brush my teeth?

But you know what kept me working right through these worries and concerns?
-

My positive attitude.
-

I just knew if I kept that smile on my face…that if I kept working and finding ways around my obstacles…that if I inherently believed it would all work out for me…I would become an online success.
-

And you know what?  I’m happy to say that I’m there.
-

A positive attitude isn’t about being overly optimistic.  It’s about having the confidence to understand that your strength, integrity, and dedication is enough to power through any roadblock on the journey to online success.
-

And that’s why a positive attitude is so critical to your online business!  My tag line has never changed … My Passion Is Your Success!  And I believe if you have that positive attitude, you too will reach your goals and dreams.

What Comes First – Passion or Purpose

It’s a surprisingly tough question to answer – and I’ve heard a myriad of responses about this thought-provoking issue.  I’ve head from some marketers that passion and purpose are one and the same; I’ve heard from others that either passion or purpose need to be in place before the other can follow.
-

No matter where you stand on this issue, it’s important to note that both PASSION and PURPOSE are fundamental to the online marketing experience…and without both, you’re bound to throw in the reins of your business.
-

So why am I stressing these two fundamental qualities to you right now?
-

Well, perhaps it’s because I’ve noticed an influx of “plug-in marketing systems” that seem to offer get-rich-quick promises to buyers if they part with just $57, or $77, or $97 of their hard-earned money (the number always seems to end in 7, doesn’t it?).  I don’t need to point out to my fellow business owners and online marketers that this really irks me.  Starting an online business shouldn’t be approached with the mentality that it’s a get-rich-quick scheme, or that it only requires a couple hours of work a day.
-

In fact, nothing could be further from the truth!
-

As an online marketer, business owner or entrepreneur, you’ll work harder – maybe even harder than you do, or ever did, during your 9 to 5 job.  You’ll have to make sacrifices with your time, and skip out on plans with friends to put in time at the “office.”  You’ll have to ask your partner to watch the kids while you work, or limit your weekend fun so you can develop the perfect sales letter.
-

In short, successful online marketing involves plenty of sweat, time, and sacrifice.
-

But when you have passion and purpose driving your every move, somehow, that time spent in front of your computer becomes almost therapeutic.  You wake up in the mornings, wondering what the day has in store for you, and greeting every moment at work with joy and curiosity.

Passion and purpose account for 99% of your online success.  If you have these two elements on your side, there’s no stopping your climb to success.
